The 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards nominations
were announced on May 9, 2012. GH led with 23 nominations overall, followed by
Y&R (16) and Days (15). AMC, B&B, and OLTL each received 11 nominations. It
is not known yet if the Emmy Awards ceremony will be aired, but it will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Beverly Hilton in
Beverly Hills, CA. The Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards to honor
those behind the scenes will be held at the Westin Bonaventure on Sunday, June
17, 2012.
Citing "irreconcilable differences," Lindsay Hartley (ex-Cara, AMC;
ex-Arianna, Days; ex-Theresa, Passions) has filed for divorce from husband
Justin Hartley (ex-Fox, Passions). They met while starring on Passions, wed in
2004 and have a daughter, Isabella, 7. Lindsay is seeking joint physical and
legal custody.
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is working on a deal
with Time Warner-owned HLN (Headline News) to air this year's annual Daytime
Emmy Awards, on Saturday, June 23, from the Beverly Hilton.

Jason Cook (Matt, GH; ex-Shawn, Days) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli, GH)
are creating a short film called Genreful, featuring seven genres in
approximately 15 minutes, on Kickstarter. Cook explains, "So the way it works is
you put money in and it's in advance, so you're sort of buying your DVD in
advance, and you're buying it based on Bradford's going to star and I'm making
it, and you get to be part of the process of it being made. It's not just seeing
the movie when it's done; it's being part of the pre-production and the
production." They're hoping to raise $50,000 by May 27. For detailed information

"Soap Life," a documentary about the evolving face of daytime, will be

"Days of Our Lives" head writers Marlene McPherson and Darrell Ray Thomas,
Jr., who joined the show last May, have been replaced by former Days
Co-Executive Producer and one-time Co-Head Writer Gary Tomlin and former Days
Co-Head writer Christopher Whitesell.
The Drama Performer Pre-Nominations for the 39th Annual
Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards have been announced.
These actors received the highest
number of votes. Members of the blue ribbon panels will
perform an at-home screening, beginning on March 27. The nominations will be announced on Friday, May 4. It
is not known yet if the Emmy Awards will be aired, but the
ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Beverly Hilton in
Beverly Hills, CA. The Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards to honor
those behind the scenes will be held at the Westin Bonaventure on Sunday, June
17, 2012.
After 22 years, "Soap Opera Weekly" will cease publication with its April 10,
2012 issue.
SOAPnet isn't fading to black soon. "It will remain available for an
undetermined period of time as additional carriage deals for Disney Junior are
finalized with distributors," says a spokesperson for the network.
"Days of Our Lives" was set to air its milestone 12,000th
episode on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, but that will be
delayed by two weeks due to NBC Sports
airing the 2012 Summer
Olympics live from London between Monday 7/30/12 and Friday
8/10/12. There are four scheduled pre-emptions remaining
this year: Friday 6/8/12 for French Open Tennis Semifinals;
Monday, 9/3/12 for PGA Golf Finals; Thursday,
11/22/12 for The National Dog Show; and Friday, 11/23/12 for
NHL Hockey.
After Lisa Rinna (Billie) chose Joe Mascolo (Stefano) as
the worst actor in the history of "Days of Our Lives" on
March 6, she went on Twitter to apologize to her co-star,
calling herself stupid. Mascolo responded, "Lisa saying that
Taylor should have her lips reduced and calling me the worst
actor on Days is sort of like the pot calling the kettles
black! Watch out, Lisa. Stefano always gets revenge!"
SOAPnet schedule: You can still watch same-day
airings of Y&R at 7 and 10 p.m., Days of Our Lives at 8 and
11 p.m. and GH at 9 p.m. and 12 midnight. Plus, on
weeknights, you can see classic episodes of AMC at 1 and 2
a.m., OLTL at 3 and 4 a.m., and GH at 5 and 6 a.m.
Disney Channel's new 24-hour preschool channel, Disney Junior, will
replace SOAPnet on most cable and satellite systems at midnight on Friday,
March 23, 2012. SOAPnet's same-day rebroadcasts of GH, Y&R, and Days of Our
Lives will continue to air, alongside ABC Family's slate of programming.
The Associated Television International (ATI), which has
produced the Daytime Emmy Awards since 2009, has decided not
to do so this year. The chairman of The National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Bruce Rosenblum vows to
continue "to explore all broadcast possibilities including
network, cable and digital media in order to produce a
prestigious show that will satisfy the daytime community,
fans and the worldwide viewing audiences."
On January 19, 2012, the nominees for the 43rd NAACP Image Awards were
announced, celebrating the accomplishments of people of color in the fields
of film, television, music and literature and honors individuals or groups
who promote social justice through creative endeavors. The nominees in the
daytime categories were: Outstanding Actor in
a Daytime Drama Series: Bryton James (Devon, Y&R), Emerson Brooks (Erica's
captor, Ben, AMC), & James Reynolds (Abe, Days), and B&B's Aaron D. Spears
(Justin, B&B), and Texas Battle (Marcus). Outstanding Actress in a Daytime
Drama Series: Y&R's Christel Khalil (Lily), Julia Pace Mitchell (Sofia),
Tatyana Ali (Roxanne), Tonya Lee Williams (Olivia), & B&B's Yvette Freeman
(Dr. Lewis). The winners were announced during a live telecast on NBC on
Friday, February 17: Emerson Brooks (Erica's captor, Ben, AMC) and
Tatyana Ali (Roxanne, Y&R).
E!'s "Dirty Soap" has been canceled. Jenna Gering, wife of Days' Galen
(Rafe), tweeted, "So the word is that Dirty Soap is NOT being picked up for
another season. Thanks to all of u who watched. You all have been so
supportive!!!"
"All My Children" and "Days of Our Lives" have been nominated for GLAAD
Media Awards: AMC for Bianca's ongoing tale and Days for Will's story. The
awards recognize outstanding images of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender (LGBT) community in news coverage and entertainment media. The
23rd annual awards ceremony will be held in New York City on Saturday, March
24, Los Angeles on April 21, and in San Francisco on June 2.

Eric Winter (ex-Rex) and wife, Roselyn Sanchez (ex-Pilar,
ATWT) welcomed a daughter, Sebella Rose, in the early hours of January 4. The
infant weighed in at 6 lbs., 14 oz. and is 20 inches long. “Welcome to the world
beautiful Sebella Rose Winter! Mami and Daddy adore you!” they tweeted.

To make the Daytime Emmy nomination process fairer in 2012, NATAS (The
National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) has instituted some
changes. There will no longer be a limit of 2 actors from each show who can
submit their name in the pre-nomination process in each category. Therefore,
everyone will have a chance to be considered for an award, not just the most
well-known actors. Also, judging pre-nominees hopefuls will take place
online. The top 10 pre-nominees from each category will be announced on
March 2, 2012.

Lisa De Cazotte has joined Greg Meng as Co-Executive Producer of "Days of
Our Lives," replacing Noel Maxam. Ken Corday remains Executive Producer. De
Cazotte was a producer at AMC, had been Executive Producer at Passions, and
previously worked on Santa Barbara and GH.

NBC has renewed "Days of Our Lives" for two years until September 2013,
with an option to renew for one more year, depending on ratings.
"Days of Our Lives" has a new online social network at
http://days45online.com/ with
interactive video chats with cast members, never-before-seen photos and
footage, promotions, and contests. It's a place for fans to connect to their
favorite cast members through mediums like Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.
The site will stream events live, such as signings for the new book, fan
events, and other promotional events. It will also offer interactive polls
and events to allow fans to get insider view, express comments and feel
connected to the show and its cast.

SOD 5/14/12
Shocking Deaths! After the safe house explodes, Shane and Roman fear that
Marlena, John, Hope, Bo, Carrie and Rafe have perished. Fortunately, they
survived the blast, thanks to a trapdoor they were able to escape through. In
the aftermath, the group realizes that the blast can be used to their advantage.
Roman and Shane are assigned the difficult task of reporting that everyone in
the safe house is dead. Will slips away and confronts Stefano about the deaths.
He questions how Stefano could have killed everyone that Will loves, especially
after everything he’s done for the DiMera manipulator. EJ overhears the
confrontation and questions what Will meant. Both Will and Stefano cover. A
memorial service is quickly arranged. EJ drags Stefano to the service so that he
can see firsthand the pain he has caused. Stefano denies having anything to do
with the explosion. Later, Marlena, John, Hope, Bo, Rafe and Carrie are moved to
a second safe house.
Ratings for 4/9: 1.8
Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes return on 5/9 as Doug and Julie Williams.
Lexie Ends Her Treatment! Lexie confers with Abe and decides she doesn’t want to
use what little time she has left pursuing medical treatment. Abe joins Lexie
when she shares her decision with Cameron and Celeste. Lexie’s brother expresses
concern that she’s giving up, but Lexie assures him that isn’t the case. In the
end, Cameron and Celeste agree to help Abe and Lexie compile a list of things
that Lexie would like to enjoy in her limited time left. Privately, Abe also
proceeds with his own agenda.
Ian and Kate enjoy a date on 5/8. brady focuses his energy on making Basic Black
a success on 5/9. Sami learns the truth about EJ and Will’s business arrangement
on 5/11.
What Will Happen: EJ issues a warning to Stefano. Chad comforts Gabi. Ian and
Kate have a romantic date.
SOD 5/8/12
Shane Returns To Salem! Charles Shaughnessy makes an explosive return as ISA
Agent Shane Donovan on 5/3. After Marlena and John escape an attack by one of
Stefano’s henchmen, Agent Harmon arranges the duo’s move to a safe house, where
they are joined by Hope, Bo, Rafe and Carrie. Unbeknownst to them, Harmon is
working for Stefano.
EJ Learns The Truth About Stefano! EJ is shaken to the core when he finds
Stefano’s document stating that they are not father and son. EJ confronts
Stefano, seeking further insight. A devastated Stefano says he didn’t want it to
be true. The Phoenix then reveals that Alice Horton saved EJ’s life when he was
a baby and stumbled upon the fact that they could not be father and son. Stefano
insists that he doesn’t know the identity of Elvis’s biological father. A shaken
EJ realizes that the mansion is no longer his home and has to leave. He hopes
Stefano will ask him to stay, but Stefano only says not to tell anyone the truth
yet. The emotional encounter leaves EJ feeling like Stefano has abandoned him.
Later, Lexie informs Chad about her brain tumor. EJ, who is still trying to sort
out his discussion with Stefano, is hit hard when Chad talks about rallying the
family together in Lexie’s time of crisis. It occurs to EJ that Chad will
replace him as Stefano’s trusted son.
Ratings for 4/2: 1.6
Sami And Lucas Have Sex! Kate observes Sami and Lucas’s tender kiss and is not
happy. Angered by the couple’s display of affection, Kate joins forces with
Madison to bring down Sami. Meanwhile, EJ also disapproves of Sami’s growing
bond with her ex, claiming that it isn’t good for the children to have yet
another man in their mother’s life. Sami and Lucas have a heart-to-heart. They
end up making love. They don’t realize the door is ajar and Kate sees them
together. Later, Kate confronts Sami and says that she is not legally entitled
to use the name Countess Wilhelmina.
Brady learns that Nicole is pregnant with Rafe’s child on 5/1. Lexie tells Chad
about her tumor on 5/3, while Madison delivers divorce papers to Ian.
May Sweeps Preview! Marlena, John, Hope, Bo, Carrie and Rafe are caught in an
explosion. Sami discovers what EJ has on Will and is livid. EJ and Sami slowly
begin to reconnect. Feelings between Carrie and Rafe continue to grow. In dire
times, Rafe must pull out all the stops for the woman he loves. Austin discovers
a pregnancy test and begins to examine the recent events in his life. Madison is
finally released from Ian’s clutches - or is she? Kate and Ian become closer as
a couple. Lexie makes a decision that affects all of her loved ones. Gabi
continues her efforts to split up Melanie and Chad. Stefano is apprehended, but
manages to escape. Will lets some new faces into his world. Cameron and Abby’s
relationship continues to develop.
What Will Happen: Brady learns that Nicole is pregnant. EJ confronts Stefano
about the election. Rafe has good news for Carrie. Things heat up between Lucas
and Sami.

SOD 4/30/12
Huge Cuts! Matthew Ashford (Jack), Sarah Brown (Madison), Christie Clark
(Carrie) and Patrick Muldoon (Austin) are the first group of actors to be cut
from the large cast - with more to follow.
Lexie’s Shocking Diagnosis Twist! A specialist is called in to treat Lexie’s
illness and after examining the test results, Dr. Yu informs Abe and Lexie that
she only has weeks to live. Across town, Kate breaks the news to Stefano about
Lexie’s illness. After Stefano’s heart-breaking encounter with Lexie, he
consults Dr. Yu, who makes it clear that Lexie’s condition is fatal, and adds
that toxic gases from underground tunnels are a leading cause of Lexie’s type of
tumor. Stefano is shocked to realize he may have played a part in Lexie’s
disease, recalling when she was held captive by Andre in the DiMera tunnels
years earlier. At that moment, Abe approaches and hears the tail end of Dr. Yu
and Stefano’s conversation. Dr. Yu shares her knowledge with Abe, which only
fuels his anger toward Stefano.
Sami And Lucas Kiss! Several changes are in store for Lucas this week, beginning
with an emotional call from Autumn. Lucas updates Sami on his breakup and she
comforts him. With Autumn out of the picture, lingering feelings between Lucas
and Sami rise to the surface. With Lucas free to remain in Salem, Sami offers
him a position at Countess Wilhelmina. However, Lucas is reluctant to accept.
Later, Lucas hears Kate vowing revenge on Sami for taking over Countess
Wilhelmina. Her determination to destroy Sami influences Lucas’s choice and he
accepts his ex-wife’s job offer. By week’s end, Sami and Lucas devote an entire
day to Will and Allie. When Will takes Allie for ice cream, Sami and Lucas find
themselves alone. Sami thanks Lucas for easing the tension between her and Will.
The closeness builds between Lucas and Sami - and ends in a passionate kiss.
Ratings for 3/26: 1.7

Tamlyn Tomita appears on 4/23 as Dr. Yu, Lexie’s specialist.
Matt Riedy will appear as Agent Harmon, who is connected to the story of Stefano
and the coin.
Marlena Is Attacked! Bo is released from the hospital, but the violent mayhem
continues, courtesy of Stefano. Marlena, Bo, John and Hope try to solve the
mystery of the coin’s code and realize that it’s tied to the off-shore account
that Alice held for an unknown beneficiary. The group ponders Stefano’s next
move when they discover that his attention has been diverted to Lexie’s medical
crisis. Despite Lexie’s illness, the foursome quickly realizes that it’s
business as usual with Stefano. John recommends to Bo, Hope and Marlena that
they and their loved ones relocate to a safe house until Stefano can be
contained. As Marlena and John head for the townhouse to pick up a few things,
someone grabs Marlena and puts a knife to her throat.
Nicole agrees to reconcile with EJ on the condition that they leave Salem for
good on 4/24. Gabi devises a plan to stop Melanie and Chad from leaving on a
romantic trip together on 4/25. Billie sets a trap for EJ on 4/27.
What Will Happen: Nicole considers reconciling with EJ. Lexie meets with a
specialist. Sami offers Lucas a job.
